November Box Leagues – Singles and Doubles
Due to unprecedented demand, we are preparing for the next round of Box Leagues. They will start on Monday 23rd November and finish Monday 18th January. You need to enter by Friday 20th November as the leagues will be issued as soon as possible thereafter.
If you wish to enter please contact Paul Wilson at firstname.lastname@example.org. We also use a What's App group to organise matches. Please message Paul on 07749373077 to get into the group.
This month the format of our winter Box Leagues is being rearranged:
Members may play in all 3 categories (singles, doubles and mixed doubles). This should provide everyone with plenty of play during the winter!
Please use the current systems on the banchorytennis.net website and WhatsApp group to arrange matches and record matches.
The concept of Box Leagues - Each player(s) will play each other throughout the months of December and January. You will play your opponent(s) for two sets only. Normal rules, at 6-6 tiebreak is required. The winner of the league is by total points (3 for winning a match, 2 for a draw and 1 for losing), then most sets, then difference of sets and if we need to do this, difference in games.
Adult Coaching Programmes
Following the success of the current Adult Coaching classes the following new opportunities are being set up, beginning next week:
Bookings for all the above must be made on the Coaching Page, payment direct to Pawel.
We will continue to run social doubles sessions on Sunday afternoons at 14:30, Monday evenings at 18:30 and Thursday evenings at 19:00 according to demand. In order to comply with LTA recommendations, places need to be booked in advance at Coaching Page and will be organised via the WhatsApp social tennis group. Please contact Henry Allen if you would like to be added to the social tennis group chat.
Please remember that we will be running our AGM via ZOOM on Sunday 29th December. A formal reminder and request for members to register their interest in attending will follow soon. Hope to see lots of you there!
Housekeeping & Safety
Please remember to abide by good social distancing procedures and to clean equipment and sanitize your hands before and after play. Members are reminded that entry to the clubhouse is strictly for emergency use only and should be limited to one person at a time. COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Aberdeenshire, so let’s not get complacent.
It is great that there has been some reasonable weather for tennis so far this winter, but please do remember that the car park, paths and decking at the club are not routinely cleared of frost, snow or ice and can become very slippery and dangerous. The courts can also have ice lying beneath the top surface. Members should take precautions to ensure their own safety and that of fellow members and guests. Please consult a committee member before attempting to clear the courts as they can easily be damaged. The courts must not be used if there is thunder and lightning in the area.
Be sure to switch floodlights off FIRMLY after play, as we have had incidences of the lights popping back on afterwards and they are very expensive to run all night!
